A completely empty theater, populated only by strutting models, was how Armani chose to deliver it’s 2020 Fall Collection at Milan Fashion week a few weeks ago due to the world’s newest villain, COVID-19. Regardless of the venue, it’s these seasonal fashion shows that give us an inspirational preview of what styles and colors will flood the fashion landscape six to seven months from now. So as popular brands and fashion houses parade their fall inspiration down runways, or in empty theaters, let’s rewind, engage with what’s current, and look forward to the blossoming of spring.

We are all for wearing whatever color you want, when you want, and justifying it however you would like. It’s also important to note that pairing colors with other seasonal pieces makes your look more coherent and contemporary (ie. a mint button down with a beige linen jacket and a pair of desert boots). You’ll look confident without erring too far on the side of trendy (ie. the linen sport coat completely in mint). You don’t want to immerse yourself with the crowd. Well, let’s at least hope not. You want to carve out your own lane in the middle of an LA traffic jam.

There are times when you want to wear something fresh, new and exciting, that fits both your vibe and the seasonal mood. Having a firm grasp on the colors that suit you best is definitely  best practice and something to consider, but when you break away and decide to add a little spark of creativity, a spritz of the unexpected, don’t be afraid to seek out a new, seasonal color palette. Merge into the carpool lane, fast forward through a myriad of runway shows along with Pantone’s 50+ Spring/Summer 2020 mix, and take a look at our recommended palette of pops of color and neutrals for the current season.

1. Bossa Nova

A deeper shade of red, grounded with an earthy quality. It doesn’t tip the scale towards too vibrant which makes it perfect to pair with all of your neutrals and maybe one or two more pops of something.

Quick Tip: The primary colors red blue and yellow always seem to fit together if you want a bold 3-color outfit.

2. Coral Pink

Of course. You always need a good pink in the arsenal, especially when it’s a few shades off of the norm.

3. Classic Blue

Go bold with your blue. Let this stand alone with a pair of light denim. It just so happens to also be Pantone’s color of the year for 2020.

4. Blueberry

Beautiful as well as “thought provoking and mysterious” as described by Maya Adivi from glowsly.com.

5. Faded Denim

The name of the color says it all. Rock it and wear it until it fades into oblivion. Then wear it again.

6. Biscay Green

Give this interesting shade of green a try when you want to add some extra flair to your warm season looks.

7. Chive

The contemporary man should consider a green like this one of his neutrals. Make it one of your classics. You won’t regret it in the long run.
